Sherwood came to Jericho Project in 2009 when he was 29 years old. Living in a half-way house and on probation, Sherwood was at serious risk of becoming homeless.

Recognizing that men and women like Sherwood face difficult futures, Jericho created an innovative partnership with the New York City Department of Probation to provide supportive housing to individuals on probation who have few options for safe housing.

Sherwood took his second chance at Jericho Project seriously. Over the past two years, he has met regularly with his Case Manager, attends Workforce Opportunities programs, and completed a Green Construction training program.

“If your life is going in a direction that you don’t want it to and you are willing to make a change, Jericho is the place for you.”

Strictly adhering to his probation requirements, Sherwood has recently completed his probation two years early.

Today, Sherwood meets with his Jericho Career Counselor to prepare for the GED test and is working to make his dream of rebuilding and refurbishing motorcycles for a living a reality.

“I’m still young and have my whole life ahead of me. I want to be financially independent, in my own apartment, moving forward with my life!”
